Oops I Wapped My Pants

Volleyball begins again Thursday.
YAY! Who's ready to take this second place team to first?

Our first game is at 6 p.m.
Wear Norb's shirts, as always.

ON LEAGUE FEES:
I need to get the photo of the team from Megan ASAP because the whole point is to give it to Roxy and use it as leverage to get the bar to pay our league fees this session. I'm not going to have time to stop in and actually ask Roxy until nexy Monday whether she will pay our fees or not because of my work schedule and trip to Cincinatti this weekend. I didn't get a chance to today because I was feeling sick. I called Metro Sports, and they informed me that everything just has to be paid by Aug. 16, which is not this Thursday but next...
If someone wants to volunteer to go up there this week, give her the photo and talk to her, be my guest-- just be sure to let me know. Otherwise, I need the photo and will do it on Monday before I go into work. Just to let you know though, if I go in there and don't catch her on Monday, we still need to pay the full $195 fee on Thursday or they will tack on a $20 late fee. This is for your information whether we end up paying our own fee, or if Roxy has to reimburse us.

REIMBURSEMENT FROM LAST SESSION:
Speaking of, I owe each of you $3.75 (except John). I believe everyone gave me $20 and it turned out to be $16.25 each with all the people we had. (BTW, if you didn't pay for some reason, please tell me, although I think you all did.)
Someone has suggested that I use the money I owe you (totaling $41) to buy sets of darts to take to Norb's. Another suggestion has been to use the money to buy beer after a game one night, or to take the money someplace like Hooter's or BDub's for a party of sorts. Or I can just get a bunch of one dollar bills like a hooker and get you all your individual refund. Please let me know. You WILL get something back.

ON SPLITTING THE TEAM:
Without the two week break we usually get between sessions, exceptions being the last two, it is too late to split the team this session. The schedules are already made.
Everyone but Sandy is coming back to my knowledge, so we still have a lot of people (11). Splitting the team into two remains a possibility for coming sessions.
If we do this, we need to make sure all 11 of us are going to keep playing and have people who are interested in playing ready to go in case there's no break after this one.
When looking for players- keep in mind we do NOT need more boys. We have 6 already who come almost every week, and Scott, (Andrew's roommate), Ben (David's roommate) and Jon (who used to be on our team) have shown some interest in playing. That would put 4-5 boys on each team, which is borderline too many if everyone comes all the time.
We DO need more girls, because 4 is a perfect number to have on each (that way, you don't sit out very long and you still have enough people to play if everyone comes).
Andrew says the Regal Beagle would sponsor a second team.

HOW THIS WOULD WORK, IF IT DOES, and MY OPINION:

IF WE DO SPLIT, we can all still hang out at games and come early and drink and watch each other, but the teams will likely be completely separate.
I know you all paid for last session, but that was for the volleyball. The shirts were a gift for a team sponsored by Norb's- so, if we break into two, those who no longer play for the Norb's team should offer their shirts to any new players on the Norb's team. Andrew said the Beagle would buy those people on the Beagle's team new shirts.

MY OPINION:
It's been discussed before, but I don't think everyone playing for both teams is going to work.
Everyone WOULD get a Beagle shirt in addition to their Norb's one (which would be cool), however, things could get incredibly screwy, especially when it comes to tournament time. Also, it could be a bit of a conflict of interest, the same people playing for two teams. It's not MLB or anything but would it work if Albert Pujols split his time between the Cubs and the Cardinals? No. So think about it rationally for a minute.
THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY (for those of you who did not play indoor before) that many of you will not like indoor volleyball, which will likely be the next session. Some of you may stop coming or not want to continue playing. That's where Megan and I lost the entire first team we WERE on before (Los Perros Locos), what happened to at least two other teams after that and how we came to form Oops, I Wapped My Pants in the first place. I'm not saying you won't like it, but you might not. Sand volleyball is more popular than indoor for a reason. Please take that into consideration when thinking about splitting up teams.

And let me know what you think.

(This has been posted on Facebook and MySpace and is also on my page under the blog section if you want to refer to it later.)
